Current situation Falmouth Harbor

Parties are continuing here on the docks and music is screaming to the early mornings from yachts and the few restaurants around, that much that I wake up around four in the morning and need to plug in earplugs to be able to get a few more hours of sleep. Damn I'm old and boring, can't deal with alcohol and party more than one-two nights a week and also got way too much job to finish before we're sailing up North (St Martin and St Barts) in a few days so I better continue to focus on what really is important. While I'm busy editing photos, writing and dealing with things online, Alex is currently working his magic in carbon fiber composite for a few of the yachts. It is not easy to find specialists in that area around here in the Caribbean so good that Alex has the knowledge (as well as in fiberglass and kevlar composite of course), and I can tell you he's been very very busy. I'll show you boat building interested guys some of the things he's been designing/creating/producing later this week. Impressive it is.
And a P.S for the girls: I just received these beautiful silky garments from my beloved Babajaan among some other glamorous fashion pieces. The red dress might be what I'll wear for Christmas and the other one's a fantastic loungewear dress for sexy tropical evenings this upcoming holiday season.. check out the latest collection from Babajaan here.

Dinner time

Can't deny that it feels extremely good to have occasions and places to dress up for, put make up and high heels on and to be out dining and wining and enjoying life in the dark like it was good old 2009 again. The energy and the familiar movements of this island is much needed for both of us at the moment. Interesting also to discover how many new subjects of conversation one can create in between two people, a couple who spend almost every single minute of each day together, when just changing the surroundings and the atmosphere around.

Happy anniversary

Sporting my new sexy "Kate" bikini from Babajaan here by the pool at the plantation. Nice isn't it? Today is by the way our two year anniversary. Congratulations to us. And today is also our one year anniversary for this circumnavigation. Looking forward to many more years in the future. We'll get out bicycling today with a delicious picnic put together by the amazing restaurant here at the hotel. But more about it all a bit later. Hope you all had/have a great halloween.

Back in business

Bikini from Babajaan.
Hello!

We took a weekend off from boat work, writing, the blog and everything else and instead we've been devouring the beauty of this island. I mean seriously, I don't think I could've ever imagined here to be so beautiful. The beaches, the ambiance, the water, aah, the water! It is way better than most other places we've seen thus far on the islands below in the Lesser Antilles. And all those amazing rocks by the shore, loving the change of view. This week has been all about surfing (yes me too), celebrating Alex's birthday, swimming, drinking Jagermeister with our crazy yacht broker and some other friends we've made, watching beautiful sun setting in the sea and salsa dancing, to top it all up in good style. Yeah we could definitely imagine to live here in the future, but you know how it is, we fall in love with every second place we sail to so no need to worry about us settling down in the nearest future. Happy to death though that this place is above all our expectations since we will spend quite some time here this fall. More about everything a bit later. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Beach break

My beautiful silk kaftan is from this brand.
We're having a really good time here, in between all work.. Alex forced me to move my ass from the computer today to spend the afternoon at the beach instead and I must say it was a good move. Loving the vibe of this island. Should have less work to deal with and more time for island exploration after the weekend hopefully.

Exclusive Brazilian Beachwear

We're back in Antigua for a few days because of a number of reasons, one of them being that we had got a few parcels delivered to our address here. This is a sneak peak of what was hiding in one of those. Delicious bikinis and sophisticated beachwear from one of the most interesting swimwear brands right now: Babajaan. I'll show you some more of my favorites from that collection soon, in the meanwhile you can find parts from the Brazilian born Sandra Moleirinho's new collection here on Net-a-Porter.

Reborn

Oh man have we got spoiled here by Buccament Bay resort these last days. I mean.. seriously, extraordinarily, five star spoilt and pampered to the max. We've had such an amazing time and we feel like newborn again. Relaxed, fulfilled, happy and energized. Will get back to you with more photos from this glorious place shortly. We'll now be leaving up North again and will make several stops along the way, follow our track on the Spotwalla chart if you'd like.

Lounging continues

Sporting my new Ralph Lauren swimsuit that my man got me the other week.. you like?

Fashion at sea

Considering the fact that I earlier lived in a house where my walk in closet was as big as the whole boat we live in today, I think I've made a damn good job in weaning myself from the relatively serious shopping syndrome I possessed in my previous life. I have not the same hunger for new things, new labels and the obligatory new designer high heels that I earlier always made sure to convince myself that I needed to update my wardrobe with once a week back home in the city. I have came to the understanding that there are much more important things in life than things. Here on the oceans I simply don't need so much. Give me 20 bikinis, a couple of dresses, shorts and tops and I will be fine. I must say it feels really good to not live for consuming any longer, I'm comparing with the normal society now where you're almost forced to believe that you need so much things all the goddam time, because let me tell you one truth: you don't actually need  more than you  physically need, if that makes any kind of sense.

I bought myself one new dress the other day though, the green one you can see on the picture. It cost me 20 EXD (Eastern Caribbean Dollar) which is equal to approximately $8 and with this one included I think I have spent a maximum of $100 in the past ten months on clothes. $100 in ten months? Interesting thought, especially when comparing with the crazy amount I used to spend on fashion back home. I honestly think that Alex have bought himself more clothes than I have in the past ten months and who could ever think that was a possible equation. Just yesterday he found himself one new pair of Henri Lloyd jeans which he told me that he needed, apparently good for cold rainy evenings (even though I can't find the logical meaning in wearing jeans in the tropics but anyway..)

One other important aspect of this all is of course that I don't go out on social functions and parties like I did before, and when you are out in the nature most of the time like we are, who needs fashion anyway. The clothes that I need and want should be easy to put on, easy to take off, they should be comfortable and cozy, they should be able to deal with the heat (and sweat) in a good way and they should be as light as they can be. Just like with everything else in life nowadays, I want it all to be as easy as possible to deal with to reduce the amount of hustle and headaches.

One thing that I laid my eyes on the other day though, was a beautiful Ralph Lauren swimsuit that I think I have to go back and make mine, with blue and white stripes and navy colored foundation and all, perfectly suitable for lounging on the boat... will show it to you later if it's still there when I go back to the shop next time.

Work it

Great gym here at the Antigua Yacht Club. First time I visit a proper gym in around ten months. Well needed. Usually gym's are not suitable for this sailing gypsy lifestyle we're living and I have to find my own ways of keeping myself in shape on the boat, but it's perfect when we're staying longer in one place like we're doing right now. Will abuse this gym to the max as long as we're here in Antigua. We only live once as far as I know, so no reason to be anything less than the best looking we ever can during that only lifetime.

And as for Alex you ask? He doesn't need anything but natural physical work to keep himself in good shape. He has that sexy toned muscular street fighter kind of look on his body no matter what he does or eats. Very annoying.

Lounging in St Martin

Feels like we're back in Europe for a while. Very riviera style over here in this little village. We're loving every single second of it. Laters, dear readers, I need to put on some more sunscreen. It's seriously hot over here!

(Bikini is from Lauren Moffatt and necklace is vintage, in case you'd wonder)

These shoes were made for sailing.... or not

I had my last wardrobe cleaning for about one year ago, some months before we left on this journey. Most of my beloved belongings couldn't for natural reasons come with us on our 35ft boat around the world so much of it has been stored, loads of things were left to my sisters and much got sold in my vintage store online. Alex was kind in a way, he still let me bring twenty-three pairs of shoes and tons of my clothes for the first part of this circumnavigation as I couldn't make up my mind on what I would need. He had only one condition: "OK, keep them here for another six months and then you have to get rid of the things you haven't been able to use" So now it's gone six and a half months and even I have now had to realize that there certainly is no space nor are there occasions for 11 pairs of high heels and 12 pairs of sneakers and flats in this life we are leading. Even though I've tried, I haven't still been able to figure out a valid reason to keep all of the things on the boat as bikinis, shorts and flipflops seem to be the only few things I wear nowadays. So now it's about time to clean some of it out and decrease the weight of the boat a little. Out with the old and in with some fresh new air.

If you are interested in making some fashion bargains, please have a look in my vintage store here and let me know if you're able to give my precious belongings a life they deserve.

Bikini season every month of the year

Oh you're waiting for more bikini pictures? You have to wait one more week till I'm back in shape after the past Sailing Week I'm afraid. Here's a month old photo in the meanwhile. Rum and beer was unfortunately not in the recipe for the perfect body so it'll take some time to get back to how it was - or to the better. I've decided that I will add one extra gear for my work out schedule this time, it would be such a waste to not have the perfect body for summer 2011 wherever we will be spending summer this year. Miami for a month or two? Maybe we'll be flying home to Europe for some weeks? Or maybe we'll sail up to Cuba? Why not Belize? Puerto Rico? God knows where, all I know is that my ass needs to get back up to where it belongs and the six pack which is hidden under there somewhere should get back to the front.

BTW, one thing you guys might be willing to help me with: I'm in the search of some fresh new bikinis, I need something new and exciting for the beautiful Caribbean beaches. Let me know if you know of any cool, sexy, classy bikini brands that I haven't heard of. Rather small independent brands than the large commercial ones. Thanks in advance.

Antigua? St Barths? Guadeloupe? St Maarten? Brazil? Curacao? Aruba?

Very soon time to move on. We're in need of some action... let's see where the winds will take us this time. /T&A
