August Monday is a yearly beach party that takes place in Road Bay, Anguilla. Had heard it would be a major fiesta but we were not prepared for such hotness all over the place. Just like for a carnival, people had gone all in with their attire and it was a true delight to see so many awesome, cool, colorful characters on one and the same beach. It was like getting photographic orgasms one after another, walking around that beach snapping shots of beautiful happy party animals. Everyone looked like they were taken right from a fresh r'n'b video and no single one were too shy to have their photos taken. People had traveled from every neighboring island with their yachts and wild and dirty is too simple to describe what the day eventually developed into. If there's one party to go in the Caribbean next year, make sure it's this one.

rum punch

A lot of this was consumed on yesterdays charter to August Monday in Anguilla that we followed along on. Will show you photos from a very colorful, interesting, excentric day a bit later. That party was wild!

red or yellow

Freshly caught snapper seems a good idea for dinner. Caught by a local spear-fisherman at Cupecoy beach. We are in love with this island, seriously, it really does continue to grow on us and we're not at all sad that it is here we are located when in need of delaying our departure. We are combining work, pleasure and spending time with our friends in a very comfortable manner at the moment. Let's just hope no tropical storms or hurricanes will interrupt our stay as we still have some work to do here before we can get moving.

saturday surf

Swell was not as big as expected but Alex still got a few sweet waves. As for myself, I'm hoping to get a new lesson as soon as possible. The adrenaline that is pumping while trying to catch those waves is incredible, although I think I'll spare the images of my attempts for now lol. Because this is the element and situation in which we both are feeling utterly happy, a day out surfing is clearly one of the best moments we share together. Just need to get myself my own, more suitable sized board asap so Alex can relax and not having to worry for me possibly breaking his precious, fourteen year old surfboard that's been traveling with him all across the world.

sound of the ocean

While we're still here on the island, this is where I like to spend a few hours each day for meditation and to enjoy a calming one and one session with the sea.. nothing, absolutely nothing is as soothing for your mind and soul as being close to the ocean.

following the storm

A good swell is building from tropical storm Ernesto that is roaming in the background on this photo, a couple hundred miles South of St Martin. Looks like this weekend could be a good time to get surfing finally.

leftover salad

Still thinking salads are the best things to prepare for lunch as it is easy to toss together, require minimum amount of time for organization and is light and healthy for your body in this oppressing tropical heat. I had half a grilled chicken left in the fridge from last night, some already boiled potatoes, a can of peas, a few spring onions and some red cabbage and that was the free lunch of today. Are you aware of how much fun things you can concoct only by looking into your own cupboards?

Salad served with fresh bread and sun dried tomatoes in garlic oil.

celebration

Suddenly when we were chilling out in that creek (Little Bay, thanks Matt!) the other day, a bunch of kids came sliding down the mountain with pizzas and cakes in their hands. Apparently they were surprising their mother on her birthday and had brought her out to this beautiful spot in the nature with a picnic. What a lovely gesture from smart little (spiderman) kids.

full moon

Although not very likely for Ernesto to hit our higher latitudes, we've now prepared the boat for some stronger winds that are expected here for tomorrow night. Ended the day with a night swim in our friends pool and some underwater yoga under the full moon. Feeling calm. Sweet dreams...

sunbathing

Not so well camouflaged on the dusty concrete dock but nonetheless very beautiful with its startling lime green skin..

tumblr

If you for some strange reason managed to miss it, tumblr is where I daily upload some of the best photos from our journey, a few tips on good books, articles and music that I like.. Check it out here.

time vs now

“Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion.
What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now.
That is precious indeed.
The more you are focused on time—past and future—the more you miss the Now,
the most precious thing there is.”

sunset beach

You can find my bikini here.

The rugged landscape on the South Western side of St Martin is absolutely breathtaking. The soft light of a setting sun casting its last rays on the limestone rocks and penetrating through the turquoise water makes for such a perfect color constellation that it almost hurts your eyes. Even more pleasant when a beautiful friendly dog decides to walk along with you and lay at your feet when you sit down in the sand to absorb the last moments of sunlight. Sometimes the elements and energies of the world are working in perfect symbiosis.
