Make sure to check out the night life on East Bay street. Lots of upscale bars and restaurants.
You must eat at Husk!
Make sure to stop by the City Market (open air, downtown) and check out the woven sweetgrass baskets. They are beautiful.
Also, try one of my local favorite dishes- shrimp 'n grits.
Hey, we had the BEST eggs Benedict at Saffron Cafe. They also have amazing pastries, and are close to the marinas.

Anna is a great piece of Charleston's history herself, and her tour is great, too.

My favorite place to eat is Hyman's seafood. If you feel adventurous try some boiled peanuts, a popular southern food. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Go to the Glass Onion - Amazing locally sourced food! A friend of mine is a chef there.
Eat at Hominy Grill & High Cotton. You will thank me later! Enjoy the Low Country cuisine!

Lots of great restaurants but try F.I.G. (Food is Good) our current favorite place. Pearlz is a great bar/oyster restaurant - love that place.
Two great bars, The Gin Joint - wonderful drinks and Speakeasy - a prohibition bar on East Bay with no sign. Ask for directions it's fun.
Enjoy Charleston, we love going there.
Ah, mostly eating suggestions... As I eat only raw food food, this will be a problem...Regarding that Taru eat only vegan food you must suggest her vegan food places...
I have followed you for sometime. Charleston is my home town. Welcome. Let me know if I can help while you are here.

Stay at the MARITIME CENTER, better location, east side of town where all the action is. Then find CAVIAR and BANANAS deli near the college. NYC type coffee shop and deli. A must go. Do a photo shoot on East Bay Street at night, or anytime. Visit Harris Teeter Grocery Store, wonderful. Enjoy Charleston, its a great town!

13.5 knots average?! I'm impressed! The gulf stream really is a monster..
Welcome to the true south! - Miami isn't even considered part of the United States ;)
I hope you guys enjoy your stay in Charleston. Definitely try the shrimp and grits and take a ghost tour around the city at night by horse drawn carriage
You could also visit the College of Charleston
Just want to say Hi, and Welcome to SC!!
Welcome to Charleston, Avoid Hyman's, a terrible tourist trap, no locals ever eat there. Try the local food trucks, cheaper and tasty. Walk the battery, take the water taxi over to Shem creek and get fish/shrimp/clams from the local fishermen. There's a Whole foods not far away.
Also got a few cool places to anchor out, Beresford creek in the wando or out by morris island. Watch the tides how ever.
Surprised you didnt go up the ICW and see the real south...
Can't do most of the ICW with an 7,5 ft draft unfortunately. Going to visit more of the South when we drive across the country later this year.
Sounds like you were in trouble but thats good you are on save Place now. Keep travelling and updating us. :)
I recommend you drive to Pensacola Florida. We are the old south only better beaches!
Enjoy your visit. You will find the United States is a varied and diverse nation. Hard not to judge the country as a whole when we are so varied in culture.
take a horse drawn carriage tour of downtown that you can catch right near the outdoor market in front of the old customs house. it's well worth the small cost and gives you a very nice history, perspective and knowledge about things to do, places to see.

take a walking tour of the perimeter of the city, or take the trolly from the City Marina.

P.S. The Ditch, (ICW), is pretty but shallow in places, plus you'd have to motor...and we all know how you hate that!!
Awww my old stomping grounds! That's where I went to College!!! I'm sure you'll probably visit the grounds since it's in the middle of the city. You'll LOVE it there, such an awesome place! Enjoy!!!
Wow!!! you guys really know how to have an amazing adventure lol
Great Story... :-) full of exciting moments.
