Vegan iPad sleeves

My friend Kimberly from New York/Massachusetts design and make these fabulous vegan iPad sleeves, among many other great digital accessories, bags and clutches that you can find on her website here. I have picked out two colour combos for my iPad mini and what's fantastic for you, dear reader, is that you'll get 10% off of exactly those two shades, if you order them through my store (original price $38). For any other colour combo, head over to Zaum's website for more.

I just love the look and feel of these. And the more things and accessories which normally are made with animal leather that can be made with cruelty free materials, the better imo.

golden beetle

There's something special about handmade things isn't it? When you know that someone has taken the time and effort to actually use their physical (wo)manpower to create something that you can wear and admire for a lifetime. It adds a very special value to the things we own, rather than filling our surroundings with mass fabricated, machine made products that everyone else has.

My friend Jade who is the talented designer behind We Dream In Colour that I often talk about, has just finished her book called "Beautiful bracelets by hand" - an excellent DIY guide book that help you creating beautiful and unique arm pieces.

If you like the lovely patina dyed brass necklace with a golden beetle from Jade's current collection that I'm wearing, check it out in my store with a 10% blog discount: www.shop.worldtourstories.com

late summer love

Thank heavens summer lasts this long after that six month long winter. Still a tropical 30C/85F in the air, which occasionally is a little too much if we were to choose a perfect temperature. But nonetheless, summer and heat is always better than winter and coldness in my humble opinion. As much as golden skin is nicer than white and cropped tops and cut out swimsuits are more fun than the ones that are not.

My sweet marshmallow coloured swimsuit can be found here and the golden handmade earrings here.

colourblind

Spring is in the air like never ever before so I felt I needed some sort of physical change from my regular pale and gloomy winter look and decided, with the easiest escape at hand, to dye my hair. Although the package clearly said Chocolate, the result pretty much ended up around the same reddish tone as the mahogany trim on the boat. Whatever. At least it hides my odd grey hairs very efficiently which is always a bonus.

Wearing the lovely Nemi earrings which you can find here. Goes with any hair colour imho.

bday wknd

Dressing up in sw/kanky dresses and high heels is such a rare happening in my life these days so thank god for ones own birthday when you're literally forced to do so (though I would prefer celebrating in flip-flops and a bikini as has been done the previous few years). This old black Herve Leger dress has followed us on the oceans in two boats through storms and tropics and yesterday when I unfolded it from the drawer that it has been tucked into for a couple years now, it bore a slight smell of old wooden boat. Adding a special kind of note to the fragrance that I sprayed on my extremely non-tanned ghost skin..

winter adornment

New England is full of vintage stores and flea markets and after some scouring around, I have found some beautiful pieces that I in one way would wish to keep all to myself, but on the other hand want to share with you through my shop. Like these stunning handmade and well detailed brass and amber chandelier earrings for example that are just so suitable for fall and winter with its earthy colours and the decadent antique feel to them. These particular earrings could be sent with any jewelry from We Dream In Colour if you wish to save on shipping cost. You can find them here.

from ibiza with love

For some reason, universe has brought many jewelry designers into my life. Women who have decided to express their creativity through handmade adornments. Latest up in my shop is Jeanette Watt's ravishing design. This particular one is especially made for my store, a limited edition piece where not one is exactly the same as the other. My good friend Jeanette splits her time between Barcelona and Ibiza and in her earth-chic line she's combined the eclectic aura of Barcelona's pulsating energy, with the spiritual power of naturally wondrous Ibiza. Can't stand how perfect the combination of the different green agate stones are in combination with the accent of gold, purple and red. A truly magnificent piece of jewelry.

Plenty of other lovely products coming up shortly. My favorite bikinis, yoga accessories, organic beauty products/make up, vintage items and more... So glad to be able to offer a window for brands and products which I truly believe in, all made by women whom I respect.

one night in egypt

We were invited to a lovely egyptian themed halloween party last night in a fantastic palace in Manchester by the sea. All my jewellery is from WDIC, as were many of the other guests golden adornments too. Jade's not only busy bejeweling the world with her glorious pieces, but also everyone around her. Addictive little things. I wore this necklace, these earrings and this cuff around my arm.

I have by the way removed the complicated shipping function in the shop and instead added new shipping options so that it's easier for you to choose your particular shipping cost. Also, for each order above $150 USD, you do not have to pay shipping at all! And I might have said it before, but all jewels from We Dream In Colour can be found in my store with approx. 10% discount. Only for blog readers of course. You'll find them here.

Aaaaand... that was the last of promotion for my online shop. Well for this week!

Hope you all had a lovely Halloween however you chose to spend it!

love at first sight

Have got some pretty new things up in my store today. Ever since I saw that hand dyed batik cotton top from Tipi Mallorca a few weeks ago on Silje's Instagram, I knew I wanted one and also share it with you. It's so soft! You might also recognize the earrings from Panama or some time else I've been wearing them, they are my most used jewelry from We Dream In Colour to date and now available for you as well. Check them out here!

earth tones from tipi mallorca

More news up in the store! This time from a talented, free spirited Norwegian woman residing on the beautiful island of Mallorca in our beloved Mediterranean. I absolutely adore the robust earthiness of her handmade design, which has features and details found in Africa, Afghanistan, Mexico and beyond. The red venice necklace is my favorite. Can't think of any cooler accent to be worn with a pair of old jeans and a white sloppy t-shirt, in particular when accompanied with a sun-kissed skin. Aaaah summer, we miss you!

Remember the beautiful headpiece that I got from the talented designer Julia Cameron last year? Now she's made these delicate new styles that has a gem stone and a little star at the front, plated with 14 carat gold over sterling silver. You can find them on my shop. Julia says you can wear them both as necklace or like this:
How stunning?

on beauty

Blogs, Instagram and other social mediums are brilliant in the way that you can get to know a variety of interesting people from all over the world. The Internet allows you to easily find and follow your favorites and gain inspiration within any given area, just a quick click away. Rachel K. Ward is one such lovely woman that I've followed through her blog, in which she often shares interesting perspectives on everything in between fashion, travels and culture. Rachel, who is a journalist and consultant in the fashion industry, recently asked me a few questions about beauty for her blog series beautiful women, you can read my answers here.

Golden, sparkling

Added a few more pieces to my store. You probably recognize some or all of these lovely jewels from earlier in the blog? I've collected some of my favorite things from We Dream In Colour's collection and they're now up in the shop with a 10% discount to all our readers. Which one's your favorite?

Speaking of beautiful things: The shop is just in the starting process, but my aim is to fill it with genuine, good brands and products that aren't nonchalantly mass-produced, but rather made by designers and creators who takes pride in offering the world things made with a conscious mind towards our nature, health and the society. If you're an artist, or know of something you think would suit my intention, feel free to drop me a line.

In the following few weeks we'll have an inspiring clothing line, a bit more jewelry and some lovely beauty products being added to the shop.

taru earrings

Very honored by the way that Jade have named these stunning earrings after yours truly!

You can find them here shop.worldtourstories.com for 10% lower price than anywhere else.

Life's great questions

Went for dinner with this fine lady last night at Gaslight in the trendy South End in downtown Boston. You might remember her from Cartagena? Coincidentally we happened to sail to the same state in which she lives with her family. We're not based on the same side of Boston, but nonetheless Massachusetts.

Gaslight is a French inspired brasserie with a low-lit, comfortable ambiance and pretty good food and wine too. Jade is as you might remember the designer of We Dream In Colour that I have had the pleasure to dress myself in on a regular basis. Her design style speaks to me and the pieces has such good balance between earthy vintage-like and sophisticated glam. It's always inspiring with people who stay focused and inline with their choice of career for a lengthy time, says someone who tried my way through different sorts of own small businesses as well as an array of various industries, and I still haven't quite found that one thing to concentrate on for the rest of my life, except writing and photographing that is (can I just do that forever, please?).

Jade on the other hand, has been designing for her own brand for more than ten years after finalizing four years at the prestigious art school Pratt Institute in New York, and her WDIC keeps growing by the day. The fantastic number of 700 stores carries her jewelry worldwide as we speak. As we discussed last night, that sort of direction and stableness is what one misses out on when choosing to be a full time traveler. A vagabond-kind of lifestyle doesn't offer the sort of stability that is required to ambitiously focus on one great pursue. Except traveling, exploring, boat hustlin', photographing, blogging and sharing the adventures with the world, all of which are rewarding in their own regards too, obviously. But if it's something both Alex and I miss sometimes, it is to settle down again, to have both our belongings as well as work flow in order.

Especially Alex is missing his work and achievements in the music industry as a mastering engineer, a career in an industry which he has been devoted to for close to twenty years. I, on the other hand, semi-professional blogger and freelancing photographer that I've done my best to be during the last three years while out on this great sailing adventure, have more job-related questions to find answers to. Can't escape the fact that money must be made in this world in order to live a comfortable, free and pleasurable life.

As was the original plan with our journey, we must first figure out which place on earth that is the right one for us to settle, and that might still take some time to conclude. And isn't that also an ever changing subject in life? Maybe the United States is a good place to live for a longer time after all. One thing that sure is good here are the enormous opportunities that are nowhere else to be found, in any given industry.

Even though we do miss our beloved Mediterranean enormously (the original plan was like most of you might remember, to be back there much earlier), we do realize that the Southern parts of Europe aren't in very good economical shape. Not saying the US has it any much easier financially, but the opportunities and chances to higher income are obviously much greater here in the US still.

Oh well, when most things are in order, there are still always so many more questions to find answers to. Life is an endless road of decision making and organizing, wouldn't you agree?
