Hope the book order from Amazon is digital (Kindle or whatever) as that will leave more space for wine! Enjoying reading about your preparation and I love your pictures just as I follow my friends who started the round the world journey 3 years ago and are about to 'jump' to New Zealand.

Yes, I agree with Tor, the kindle is great! You can download pretty much anywhere, except maybe the "open ocean". Stock up before you leave and you will have one little gadget with tons of books!

Think about buying your boat gear in USA. The USD is cheap now and you can buy there tax free. You could go to Fort Lauderdale via Teneriffe, Cape Verde, Bermuda.

Thanks for the tip about Kindle, but we're very old fashioned when it comes to books.. Like having them in the hand, turn pages, smell the paper... we've now placed an order with Book Depository in UK.. they offer delivery in 24-36 hours and free delivery worldwide. Could we know which Canon camera you chose?

You are right to stick with paper books the batteries don't run out...

Can you say what you are doing for navigation, electrics and comms?

Are you all GPS or taking manual backup? Any solar panels on that frame for electics? And sat phone/internet for weather etc?

The new camera is a Canon Eos 5D Mark II.

Garmin 720s GPS map and plotter, radar, paper charts, rayethon loch, sextant and pilot books for navigation.

95W solar panel from Kyocera installed on the arch, might be in need of some addition to that section. Air generator up as well but need to change it as we don't find it efficient enough.

Sat phone and Internet under development, most probably we'll use Iridium and Sailor broadband, Thrane&Thrane.

Owning a boat similar to yours, just that "Deck and exterior refit" item seems daunting with only a couple weeks left. Good luck and don't forget the medical section!
