I wish you all my luck - keep your heads up! :)
I have ordered from them before and unlike Amazon, they don't group the order; they send the books as they become available. Sometimes they have it in stock, sometimes they say they do but they actually don't. Guess you learned it the hard way. Maybe you can have someone to forward them to you in the event that not all the books arrive on time. Good luck!
Ordered from them many times. Never had problems, but delivery times up to 14 days are normal.
You can track your order on their website: order # and your name
https://www.bookdepository.com/track
If you mean tracking shipping (fedex, ups, dhl), first check they even shipped your order.
600 euros, ouch, you could have bought a Kindle e-reader or any other got most of the books online plus tons of free books under open source, tons of libraries with everything from the bible to the great classics, free for downloading onto an e-reader. Save a lot of space and a bit of room these electric things.
A kindle or an Ipad may have been a better investment. Battery life on a Kindle would be really good and stowage would be easy. Not so much though for that tactile experience of a real book though. And I haven't ever read a kindle that had been soaked in spray and then dried out in the oven.
I have a question regarding your wc room, can you shower in there? I know there is alot of wood so I wonder how you solve that shower thing during the long ocean passages?
If the delivery time is 14 days, they should say "14 days" on the website, not 3-7 days. Right?
Obviously I've made sure to know when exactly the packages were sent. And obviously I have already checked the poor tracking info they have on their website, but one doesn't get much wiser with it as there is no information what so ever on where the delivery is located after it is sent from the warehouse.
I'm sure Kindle is great, just like the Ipad, but I do not want to read my books digitally.
Adam, we do shower in the shower and it works great. We just dry the walls directly after and there's never been any problems.
I agree with you. Buying 99% of my goods online, there is nothing more irritating than a late delivery. Most of the time something has gone wrong with the shipment otherwise stuff usually arrives on time.
There's contacts for the Managing Director of the company and the Trading Manager:
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/help/topic/HelpId/42/Key-People#helpContent
Fire off an email today to "Kieron" with a cc to "steve" explaining who you are, what you are doing and what the problem is, and why you need your purchase ASAP.
I do note in that same help section there is a sneaky sentence, that the delivery is based on whether the book is in stock at their facilities or not. Is suspect if not, they source it elsewhere, have it delivered to their facility then ship it to you, complete waste of time and inefficient, when they should drop ship it direct from their source to you.
Anyway, fire of a "nice" email, see how they respond then follow up with you may consider putting their name on the site should they drop the charge of 600 euros for your frustrations :-))
