Morning read
Happy thanksgiving to all of our American readers by the way! I wish you all a beautiful holiday.
Very nice blog! As we say in Portugal, i wish you, "Bons Ventos".

Jag hittade hit via Stina Auer och följer nu er spännande resa!
You go girl....nothing better than a relaxing cigarette when the urge presents itself!!
Well there ya go...proof...you can't fix stupid.
So you already started with the heroine?
I'd prefer to belong to the "have and not need" camp rather than the "need and not have" camp when it comes to medical.
My only hesitation is that it might be illegal to possess narcotics in some countries. Not good to be jailed for having drugs on your yacht.
This is probably in your handbooks as well, but another thing that might be helpful is having oral rehydration solution packets to mix with water, or having the recipe (salt plus sugar) in case either of you came down with a bad diarrheal illness, so you can make it through.
Thanks for sharing your journey, as I sit in freezing Minnesota daydreaming of warmer placed!
Just in case you weren't sure there is nothing sadder than a delusional smoker - no such thing as a social smoker - and justifying your addiction (admit it , you cannot stop) by saying that it might save your skipper's life is so tragic it's almost funny. Love you , your adventure , your writing skills , your passion. But hope you will awake from your nicotine dependency before it properly screws your life. That day may be tomorrow.
Ryan: We will not carry any drugs which are not stamped with our name. If we have a copy of the prescription on drugs like this, there will be no problems.
Eileen: Thanks for that, haven't thought about that one.
Mark don't be such a drama queen. Obviously I don't smoke because of Alex's allergy that would have been strange? I smoke occasionally because I love the feeling that penetrates me when I suck in the nicotine in my lungs. Especially when combining with alcohol. Mmmm.
I'm sure you do couple of "stupid" things in your life as well. We all have our moments. The ones who doesn't try to be "perfect" all the time and the ones who dare to take some risks, will have most fun in their lives in the end, remember that. I don't need anyone telling me what is right and wrong, I make my own decisions - good or bad, it's for me to decide.
One other thing there: how can you assume my weekend/social smoking is an addiction? With this you mean that your weekend drinking is an addiction as well? Interesting assumption.
Hadn't heard about tobacco as a remedy for bee stings before and had to look it up. Came upon an article by a guy that really took this remedy testing seriously. Those remedies won't of course help with any allergy issues but some of them I will surely memorize.
Sting Operation - What's the best remedy for a bee sting?

I haven't checked what drugs you're carrying, but if you haven't done it already, it might be worth checking the drug classification of each. For some drugs a prescription isn't enough and you need an additional certificate when travelling to some (most?) countries.
I use such a drug and living in Sweden I need a certificate issued by the pharmacy when travelling to countries in the Schengen area, and outside of that area I need another certificate, issued by the doctor that wrote the prescription.
Wish you good luck with your adventures!
Mary, there is an even better remedy with the cigarettes, and it is to push an lightened cigarette straight on the sting when it happens and the fire/heat will neutralize/evaporate the venom. But this would work with a lighter or matches as well, the good thing with a cigarette though is that the heat is equalized better making it "less painful" and more effective. Alex have tried this one before and it worked good without having to call an ambulance.
I've got to admit that I find the thought of applying toothpaste more appealing than using a lighted cigarette...
But it's good to know though, a cigarette/lighter might be all that I have at hand when I next get stung by a bee.
