Älskade vän! Jag tänker på er och önskar er all tur på resan över atlanten. Ta hand om er och se upp för bommen! Puss och kram
Have a great trip,we so look forward to your updates. We are looking at buying a Sailomat unit for our yacht,,i love tiller steering, especially down-wind,the feelling of water rushing over the rudder blade is just one of those beautiful sensations that fingers can feel,,,but sad to say we have a wheel and the Sailomat fitting to the wheel is bullet-proof.
Its nice to see you live Bernard Shaw's words,,"there is no love more sincere than mans love of food"
Have a great trip,sail safe.
cheers tony and Aya
ps Alex,,they have Ducati's in the Caribbean,,!!
Thanks for your thoughts. It's rather interesting. Your attitude to this crossing a vast ocean by small boat is the normal attitude people have towards flying in modern aeroplanes, while your attitude towards that, is what people would have to crossing a vast ocean in a small boat.
;-)
There are all sorts of self-steering tricks should the wind vane break. Not being a sailor hopefully Alex knows about them or some one who is, can chime in otherwise, all sorts of instructions out there. I think one of them involves bungee cords tied to the tiller arm from either side, all sorts of other tricks. Maybe look them up and print them out for your own comfort or in case Alex not too familiar should something occur out there.
Good luck Taru! I really hope your autopilot holds up!
The two things that worry me in advance are the solo night watches - while the other sleeps, and the possibility of HUGE storms.
Hope you avoid all the storms and that your night watches go smoothly.
All the very best. So excited for you!!! It will definitely be an experience of a lifetime.
Can't wait to hear all about it on the other side :)
Tack Fanny min finaste vän! Vi tänker på dig också och hoppas att du snart kan komma och hälsa på oss!
Thanks everyone for your luck wishes.., the paper hasn't arrived yet and will be here tomorrow morning. It's a Friday tomorrow and the old superstition says it's no good to leave on a Friday. But what to do?? Can't wait till Saturday!
Bon Voyage!
Terrific photo...all the best to you with the crossing.
Do we know what the mystery document is? Has it been mentioned earlier and I missed it?
Can we guess?
1. can't be related to immiggration or passport control since you been in what 3 or 4 different countries now. While EU certainly no problem in Morocco.
2. MONEY ! lots of it ! Cashier's CHECK ???? :-)
3. Document: A written or printed paper that bears the original, official, or legal form of something and can be used to furnish decisive evidence or information
Boat ownership? Sale and title transfer? Insurance Policy? Will? Inheritance? Must be something very important to hold up the departure, yet at the same time something "nice" and since the mood conveyed is one of joy and excitement in waiting rather than irritation. :-)
So.
What pray tell is scribbled on this document that shall arrive tomorrow then?
Alex & Taru
have a gret down wind ride - best wishes - enjoy & take care
