ONe thought on the alcohol is to not consume by bottles but reduce to a glass.
Ressearch has shown that a glass of red wine a day is actually no harm and has no adverse effect on body weight.
You are perfectly right about that Nigel. A glass once, twice a week is my typical melody. But if the occasion (and wine) is right, it can definitely happen that the whole bottle goes down. Can you imagine I drank a bottle of wine circa every second day, three years ago? Now I'd say I keep it to around 1-2 times a month, and I feel much better (and lighter).
I feel so much better when I manage to stay milk-sugar-alcohol-bread-free... But I just love throwing dinner parties and baking and weekend breakfasts... It's that typical balance between instant gratification and longtime wellbeing that I still fail to grasp. I always indulge and end beating myself up. However, when on holidays, I do tend to replace all those "heavy" things for fruits and vegetables. I suppose your body really feels the different strains you set upon it and decides it doesn't need so much when you're not so emotionally overwhelmed.
Yeah it's the notorious balance that we all are looking for. I think it's important to allow ourselves to indulge from time to time rather than being hardcore strict with a super healthy diet every day. It also makes you appreciate amazing food, wine and sweet things more, when you don't eat and drink it all the time.
Cutting out added sugar was the best thing I did to lose weight. Natural sugars in fruits and veges are good for you - it's the white sugar we add to things like tea and cornflakes and desserts of course, that'll getchya. Have not heard about the milk-hormonal thing before and you've got me thinking because i have sensitive skin as well.Shall experiment...
To cut down on milk, yogurt and cream has resulted in me getting much less break-outs in the skin so if you have those problems and or have an oily skin it could be worth trying.
I keep finding my way back to you're blog (on and off rreader for years) and for me (who live very close to the nature, and with the nature, somewhere very very far away from where i used to call "home", and are very concerned about environment, health and food) you're VERY inspiring.
The fact that you 2 chose this kind of live and lifestyle. And the very cleaver writing and thinking you're willing to share with us. Just great, amazing, inspiring.
Taru that is the way to go. For me, life is to short to cancel things out totally. If people think they feel better without certain things, I am fine with that but for myself I like a glass or two of wine, a good piece of meat and a nice brandy once in a while.
Oh by the way, I can assure that 10 years down the road the price for heavy drinking at parties increases drastically. If I get bombed on a Friday my weekend is basically over. 10 years ago I would have been out partying on Saturday - today that is a complete no go today.
You two take good care of yourself sailing south. Pirates of the Carribean is not just for the movies!!
Härligt att du har hittat din balans! Se till att säkra kalcium från andra kalciumkällor bara. Det har du säkert redan, men jag vill bara belysa hur viktigt det är för oss kvinnor ;)
