imho, it is much better to use fabrics that do not wrinkle so don't need to be ironed. using this iron onboard will consume a huge amount of power, which is usually a problem on a sailboat unless you've got a generator, of course.
Got the generator, Norby!
Although the iron is mainly going to be used in harbors.
what rum does he like?
Sounds like great wine, but......for everyday wine there are tons of Spanish wines for 10-15 bucks. And the Frenchman doesn't drink wine? Sacrebleu!
Good luck with that iron when you are not connected to a dock. Your house battery will be empty in a few minutes. Let us know if you will ever use an anchor or will this be a marina tour?
Jon: Bacardi Gold, Havana Club..
Baydog: Yeah, isn't it weird? There are some OK wines from Spain in the lower price range (although I prefer Italian or Australian). One of my every day favorites from Spain is a Tempranillo called "Albali". The standard one you can get for around 2.50 in the supermarket and their Grand Reserva goes for 5-6 Euros.

Bringing a couple of those as well for the world tour.
Don: I would say that we're aiming to spend, let's say, 85-90% on anchorage and the rest in marinas. Just like we've done on our Mediterranean tour this summer. There's no point in making a world tour if only tying up at marinas. We don't want to spend too much money on such nonsense when there's a world to discover. But WHEN we do stay in a harbor, I want there to be an easy solution for getting perfectly dressed and not having to run around after a dry cleaner or washing place. It's just another arrangement to make our life a bit easier. And obviously I would not need iron clothes when on anchorage or on the sea.
Your iron looks like a boat.
Love the pic of the iron but really, life on a boat should be free of ironing, no?
If I didn't enjoy flat ironed clothes and perfectly well suited shirts for my man when arriving in a nice harbor with a wonderful restaurant in focus, I wouldn't bring the iron of course. But now I do, so there's not much choice. There are heavier tasks on earth than ironing :)
Get that man a bottle of Mount Gay!
He will love you for it........
Looks fantastic, will get him some for sure. Would be nice to have one bottle of that in its birthplace, Barbados, in some months...
I'm so glad I didn't get this kind of backlash when I aked in the forums what kind of iron I should get for my boat. Although come to think of it, I did get a lot of 'You shouldn't being wearing clothes that need ironing' comments. But we're girls with a certain fashion sense, and there's nothing wrong with that. :)
