What a gorgeous picture of you two! That's deserves a beautiful frame!
Being an avid sailor, I always wonder about people and their sailboats during a hurricane or major storm. I own a tiny little Sunfish. Mooring her is a cinch. But like the boat you're on, I would be a wreck! I'd be the idiot either sitting on it to protect her or near by watching to make sure, regardless of the dangers. I guess being the captain, you want to go with the ship. Yeah, I'm weird that way!
Hi Taru & Alex,
please excuse me, for being the smart ass sailor around, but I am just willing to contribute. ;-)
Not having be in a hurricane, but getting prepared at least once for the comming of one, my main concern was to reduce the amount of area that was exposed to the wind. So, apart from anything laying around on deck or sprayhoods, we also to the time to remove all sails, the genoa from the furler and the maib from the boom. Maybe you have already seen a sail getting pulled from the furler in port? If I recall well, we even removed the boom.
However, great picture and I am sure, you too will manage anyhow.
Best,
Norb
