"Very often we're dreaming of the day when we've sailed around the world and finally entering a port on the Southern coast of Italy. "
Taru,
Like Sir Elton John said "Don't wish it away!"
kudos to both of you for working hard to make your dreams come true. i can almost see your sleek beautiful white classic looking yacht sail into that Italian harbor someday, drop anchor and appear to be not only be immediately at home in her natural surroundings, also to be the stand out beauty of the harbor.
Been there, done that- its always something with boats, but the memories of the living on a boat lifestyle are incredible- beautiful sunrises, amazing sunsets, the lapping of the water on the side of the boat rocking you to sleep, the smell of the salt air- the fresh catch on your plate for dinner, the gorgeous seashell you find that day; and most of all someone to share it all with who loves you and you love back make the 214 repairs and the endless repairs all worth it-
Awesome blog. If you make it to Trinidad, you will be so thankful you spent the extra time doing repairs in St. Maartin instead. We spent time in both locations and they are night and day. I wouldn't wish Chaguaramas on anyone although Tobago is wonderful. Best of luck!
Awesome post. Long overdue! Exactly what the sailors amongst the readers need to read enough of the frilly hats and underwear :-)
Once in a while such an awesome update as to what is going on will deflect people's queries about the whole venture and the buying of the boat itself.
Have you been to Friar's Bay for a swim yet? Do laps across the bay then grilled prawns for lunch at the shack on the beach if it still there. Warmest calmest water on the island.
Agreed that Duende has beautiful lines and is a worthy refit project for someone as capable as Alex - (who again obviously has an eye for beauties.)
You two seem to have a good balance with very different skills and interests but much mututal care and appreciation of each other's unique abilities and perspectives. So lucky - enjoy the shared experience.
Taru you can be sure that fresh laundry, a delicious lunch and a pleasant, supportive vibe is always preferred to frustrated, unskilled rigging help - even with the best of intentions.
It's such a pleasure to follow your journey on this blog.
its a beauty of a boat from one of the best boat builders/designers of all times so it will be worth the effort! g'luck!
Great read! BIG thanks for the info.
Here's to hoping all of your dreams come true!
Great Blog entry! Thanks a lot.
Great Blog entry for a boat lover like me.
