Happy to hear that you are venturing to the South Pacific after all Taru. I can already envision your photos. I look forward to seeing the Marquesas, Tuamotus, Tahiti, Moorea, Raiatea and beyond through your lens.
A few months ago, you posted a photo with very clear turquoise water, and then asked "will this be the color of the South Pacific?". I can assure you that you will find that color in Rangiroa and Fakarava, if you choose to stop there before arriving in Tahiti. You will love it there- deserted turquoise lagoons, coconut palms, welcoming locals, fresh baguettes and amazing snorkeling and diving.
Will you have an underwater housing for you camera?
I think so yes, I have some crappy, smaller underwater cameras at the moment but should get the housing for the Canon before we get out there.
Watch out for hurricanes. It's not a good time to be out in the gulf.
I don't comment often but I wanted to let you know I think your writing and your English is only getting better and better the more you write. I'm looking forward to following you throughout the Pacific. It's a good diversion from my windowless office but thankfully I get out on the Chesapeake Bay a few days a week too to recharge as well. I just wished the water looked like that here.
Make sure you spend some quality time in the san blas islands. you are going on the most adventuresome and potentially rewarding part of your enviable journey niw, the Great Pacific awaits! Smooth sailing in all things large and small Taru & Alex.
Entonces.. a dónde van ahora?
Check out the blog of Liz Clark and the Voyage of Swell (swellvoyage.com). Also, there is a boat called Uliad (uliad.net) that has had some excellent posts on their trips through the South Pacific and who are now heading for Indonesia.
We are watching out for hurricanes, sailing and planning as safe as we can. Glad to have a much faster boat this hurricane season in case we'd need to rush down South quickly.
Glad to hear my English is getting better. Hopefully will have a lot of time to read (and study) when we get to the Pacific ..
Looking very much forward to visit San Blas.
Ana: primero a st maarten por unos dias, despues a venezuela, colombia, y al final al sur del Pacífico y Asia...
Thanks for links Beverly.
Taru- I have just started following your blog and love it! So inspiring and beautiful! My husband and I and our 3 kids are in the beginning planning stages of our circumnavigation! Thanks to you and your blog I am more excited than ever to start our adventure!! Cant wait to follow you and Alex on your journey! Thank you for sharing!!!
The Andamans - it's all about the Andamans. Hundreds of islands that are uninhabited. And 600 nautical miles from India, 500 from Thailand and 800 nm from Srilanka. You can't go wrong with this tropical paradise. Unlike the carribean, you'll be the only boat around. Tourism is still limited to a few of the islands like Havelock and Ross Island. Plenty of quiet, undiscovered bays. And the coral reefs, turquoise waters and white beaches. One paradise left on the earth that man has not contaminated.Look forward to having you here. If you get delayed by 4 yrs then we'll be on our boat too in the Andamans
Just looked up the Andaman islands, so beautiful, as will be all the others you see on your journey. The weather will no doubt be a lot better than you had here in London, where it's still not good. Hope you'll activate the Spotwalla system so we can follow your trip. Good and safe sailing.
So happy you are back on board. Love reading your blog and dreaming away to all the beautiful pictures, realizing it is possible to make your dream come true.
Very excited about your upcoming sail, can't wait to read about it and see how you'll find the Pacific.
Hi guys
Just back from a weeks charter in the Seychelles, stunning is all I can say, of course a long way off from your current position but well worth adding to a "bucket list" of places to cruise. Check out Anse Lazio on Praslin Island, I can confirm that the votes for one of the best beaches in the world are justified!! Njoy. Gareth
Andaman islands sounds amazing..
Taru, Vilken bra plan! Jag kommer vara i Panama från och med Torsdag och på obestämd tid framåt. Säkert flera veckor. Hör av dig om ni kommer i närheten, vore kul med en träff! KRam
