I know this isn't on your list of stops, but you can get and do EVERYTHING in Trinidad for cheap(er). They have it all. Never been to Columbia so cannot speak of that, but having been in Grenada for 7 months, most people go to Trinidad to get major work projects done because there is so much available there (it's HUGE comparatively and has a bustling maritime industry). Good luck and fair winds friend!!
Thanks Brittany. We were first planning on dropping by there but it'll make for such a long detour that we most probably will skip Trinidad this time.
Go online and use one of the US chandlers who have the best prices on most items. The freight might put them out of contention on a heavy item such as chain or a whole winch. All you must do is order from a town with a busy airport.
I have been a satisfied customer of defender.com for 9 years now. They have delivered parts to me all over the world in a typical time of 3 days.
Cartagena would be the place to spend some time for many reasons. I would try to have all projects completed before Panama which should be for provisions only if possible as it's such a s**t hole.
So happy to see you going to the Pacific, will be insteresting to see how you like it.
Fair winds,

When you get to Grenada, look up Mike and Rebecca Sweeney on Zero to Cruising. They're there right now and they have a lot of contacts. You can read their blog and get in touch with them at zerotocruising.com

Last time I was on Granada (2010), there was a good chandlery in Prickly Bay called Spice Island Marina. There is also a well stocked chandlery at St. George - along the seafront in the inner bay. Between the two, you should be able to find a lot. However, as another reader pointed out, Trinidad probably is the best location in all of Caribbean to do repairs.
Enjoy life

Thank you all!!
