Has Alex tried spearfishing? Then he can choose the fish he catches, and it's super fun!
Yea we got a speargun but it's not allowed to use in Mustique and a few other islands.
We just got back from vacationing in Antigua and we visited a couple of places you've mentioned in your blog. When i was walking through i was thinking of you guys. It's too bad you weren't there... we would have visited you! We'd except one of your nice meals :)
Take Care.
Glad to hear, I'm sure you had a great time Theresa!
Ah fair enough then. I'd love to see what he catches when he is allowed to use the spear :)
Taru,
I have had alligator gar before and it was delicious, however it was prepared in a unique way, a bit cumbersome though. The meat has many tendons that pass through it is necessary to grind (or mince) it up and pat it into balls, then fry it. I found this link to a recipe that you may want to try. Alex may have to try to get a bigger one though...LOL Bon Appetite.

Thanks Ben, will check that out but Alex now got a mutton snapper as well, might be better for dinner?
Hi, a day late, but Garfish over coals is great! Dead simple. Here's a link that says it better: http://www.sbs.com.au/food/recipe/15473/Garlic_and_garfish_over_coals
All the best
Oh no!!! Don't give up! Good luck!
I would be worried about ciguatera in this as well (high level predator of other fish). Teh saltwater gars I've tried have been terrible; very "gluey" meat :-(
