Curaçao
More Curaçao stories coming up..
If you have a little bit of time, rent a car and rive all the way to the west side of the island for a completely different experience of what Curacao is like. Westpunt and Lagun are very nice and the beaches are more local and not that crowded. Also, on a windy day take a trip to the rocky exposed North Shore. There is the Shete Boka Park: http://www.carmabi.org/nature-management/shete-boka-national-park
Wow looks so pretty!
roflmao, even though the picture of you in the short shorts and the comment below are hilarious, it's still kinda sweet because of the way you and alex are holding on to each other. you look like teenagers :)
oh, and i think this is my first ever comment i've made in english :D
Chris we missed the Northern parts this time unfortunately.
Vixen> LOL exactly our thought, so I guess I come away with the dressing for this time... teenagers don't know better.
Looks fun! Interesting that you were told not to go. Did you find it "rough" at all?
It's like any medium sized "big city" - crime happens, but mainly in between gangs and of course you can become the unfortunate victim of robbery or someone smashing in the windows of your rental car to steal your purse or the cd player but that can happen anywhere. If you stay out of trouble and take normal safety precautions it's as safe as anywhere else.
Some of these islands gets unfair publicity as "unsafe" because one or a few tourists have been victims of crime, but these tourists tend to forget the petty crime that also happens in their own hometown.
I found Curacao safe because nothing happened to us but we're also always very conscious where we go during what time etc and try to never put ourselves in unnecessary trouble.
I've been a reader for awhile, never commented before. But I love your blog! Your pictures are amazing, and it's always a nice little mental getaway while sitting in an office.
P.S. You totally rocked those short shorts, wouldn't worry about it!

Hey Taru and Alex!
I've been reading your blog over the past few months now and thought it might be nice to leave a comment just to show some gratitude. Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures with all of us, and putting so much detail and effort into it, making it that much more enjoyable for us readers!
I'm also really impressed with what you saw in Curacao. I feel the same way - I live in the Philippines now, but have lived in other countries along the way. The attitude of most outsiders to the Philippines is that it can be too dangerous - but I like to take the attitude that you took in Curacao, and just try to be very aware of what's going on around me and keep in mind to be safe with my belongings, and I have so far never had any bad experience here. I like to think of the expression "don't let the seeds spoil the watermelon" - I'd rather enjoy new places completely than stay away because of a few seeds. :-P
Thank you again for sharing such beautiful, inspiring lives with us!
That's how I see it too. Everyone has their own perceptions or thoughts on places/things, but you never really know before you've seen it yourself. Philippines must be exciting. Looking forward to the day we get to that side of the world.
Looks great. It is Curacao is now on the list, and not only for the drink with the same name :-P
Can't wait for more Curaçao stories and photos! I lived on Curaçao for five months until a few months back, it's nice to see it again, through someone else's eyes!
