Very thoughtful post, Taru, I agree that you can and will appreciate the best of both worlds if you just let yourself enjoy the "deluxe" moments of each! I'm busy appreciating the land-bound moments right now (thank God for A/C) but will be back on the water in a few months.
Taru, sounds as though you might becoming very accustomed to being a land lubber???
sea legs make people feeling tired all the time. energy sucker. :) good to know you guys, relaxing and enjoying the shore. http://underthestarsandsun.blogspot.com/

It is so great to be adaptable, people who can only sleep well in their own beds, and only go to the bathroom in their own home etc are missing out on so much of life. Btw, is that a very pink bedroom or just the light?!
Oh I hear you about the dreams of home life compared to boat life. We too were amazed when we move home for a few month break. The endless water, power and net and large bed is a dream. But like you say, boat life is also an adventure. We think a blend of both is the best life has to offer...

As always, there are two sides to every story, do your man a favor and spend a few minutes reading this:
http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-08/why-vegan-diets-suck
John K: The article in that link basically says everything we already know, but the bottom line is still, as they also say in that article, quote: "There may be ethical or religious reasons not to eat animals… I get it".
And that ethical aspect is the main reason to why I no longer eat meat, cook with dairy, and for Alex to have cut down on eating meat and dairy.
The hormones they inject in animals today to produce larger steaks and more milk is also known to not be healthy for human beings so if you can keep your meat and dairy consumption to local organic options, the better it is for you.
Nicki: It's the light and photoshop that makes it look pink!
As much as I would LOVE to live on a boat one day, I'm not sure I would ever be able to sleep! I'm such a princess when it comes to my bed!!!
I really love how you can change my entire outlook on life for even just a few minutes. Your experiences and perceptions on what you have in your life are brilliant.
The moments I have when reading your blog are definitely those of the "be grateful for you have".
Running water and a big bed - I have both of those and definitely do not appreciate either enough.
Thankyou for your amazing thoughts

Nice Post. It's a gift to have a well developed ability to appreciate the simple things in life. I've lived in a variety of ways and it's grown my awareness and gratitude toward all life has to offer.
