If you want a proper diagnosis from the internet crowd, you'd better photoshop that to a close up of the foot in question only. At this point, there's no way anyone looking at you is able to intently focus on the foot first, with any acumen, except perhaps for the rare fetishists among us.
The rest of you appears to be as perfect and beautifully formed as ever. :)
It sounds like it could be just a cyst, like a sac of gel like liquid..My partner had one on the knobbly bit below his knee and it was hard, but gave a bit when you pressed it. After a couple of years he banged it hard and it grew bigger so he had it drained with a syringe.
Sorry, probably WAAAY too much information but you asked!
Based on the location, the lump is probably a ganglion of the extensor digitorum muscle bundle. A ganglion has a firm rubbery texture and it will fluctuate in size with time. If it is a ganglion, it is harmless. If it bothers you, it can be aspirated (drained with a needle, but likely to recur) or surgically removed. An Xray won't make the diagnosis, CT or MRI is needed. See a podiatrist first if you can - a primary care physician or urgent care doc won't be of much help.
When I a kid, my brother had something similar. If I remember correctly, it was because he drank way too much milk. It was like a calcium overdose... :) The doctor gave him a bandage to put over it and told him to reduce drastically his calcium intake. It went away after a couple of months. Do you take a lot of calcium??
i have exactly the same thing and i'm a salor too. i got a xray and the doctor said i bump my foot boat and a it made a small ball of dry blood under the skin. if it come too big or annoying it's just a small surgery too get out this crapp.
Hi, where did you take this photo? About the ankle, I would advise you to see a doctor. The sooner the better.
Based on the picture, I agree it looks like a ganglion cyst.
Thank you so much. Yea it definitely looks like a Ganglion cyst. Been to two doctors in the past two years and none knew exactly but recommended X-ray to have it determined. Seems the blog readers are smarter again! Thanks so much. I'm not too bothered by it but if it gets worse I'll go and see a podiatrist.
Ana, photo is from when we were in Mustique last year.
