Yoga sanctuary in Mallorca

If you happen to be in the Mediterranean this summer and early fall, I'd like you to consider treating yourself to a six day session of soulful tranquility and exercise at our friends beautiful Yoga retreat in Palma, Mallorca. There are currently two upcoming weeks booked with two very respected instructors, Mariela Cruz (image above) and Lucia Andrade, more information here. If accommodation is needed, check out their peaceful farmhouse or villa here. Wish we could be there this summer, David!

Happiness is..

.. to be stuck in a German-occupied town and realize that you can find all kind of German delicacies in it. Such as bratwurst, rye bread and german chocolate. Oh Riesen, how I have been dreaming of you! /T

Need to move on

We're stuck in Mallorca because of the delay of the BlueChart that we ordered for our GPS plotter, which should have arrived in the shop here two days ago. We really do want to get out of here now, and move on towards Corsica, but at least we have had some time to take care of other necessities. Such as stocking up the fruits and vegetable section, wash some dirty clothes, organize cables and connections on equipment, bake some bread, fill up our scuba diving cylinders and organize our messy closets. But now we're done and wishing to proceed. We'll give that god damn chart a couple of more hours before we're out of here. With or without it. /T

A small fisherman's town in Mallorca

We found an excellent bay for mooring last night, just next to Porto Petro. We got a nice, quiet sleep with barely no movement on the water, at least it felt like that since we both fell asleep instantly when we went to bed. Woke up around 9ish and dinghied over to this beautiful little town for breakfast and to stock up on provisions. Now we're ready for some hours of sailing up along the eastern coast of Mallorca. Had planned to get to Menorca tonight but looks like we're late after schedule like always so we've decided to dump the schedule totally and go only with what we feel like and where the wind wants to bring us. Hasta La Vista!

The simplest little fish dish

On longer passages it is important to eat steady meals with a lot of carbohydrates to keep your energy level high when time goes by slow. We've stocked up the boat with plenty of rice, pasta and potatoes and luckily the combinations with these along with proteins and fat (fish) are endless. This one is a perfect little dish that you can prepare with any sort of fish you might catch for the day or why not using the left overs from the fish you had last night. The short time it takes to cook this meal, makes it also easy to prepare in rough weather.

Cook your pasta. We prefer tagliatelle but any sort is as good.
Pan fry chopped, red onion in olive oil and add your fish. (I used the salmon fillet from last night.)
Add 1-2 cups of fresh cream or UHT cream, depending on what's available.
Add 1 teaspoon of soya and maybe some more pepper, and/or salt.

When pasta's ready and rinsed, pour it over to the pan with the fish and sauce. Stir and taste, maybe add some extra seasoning of your taste. Add fresh rucola salad and fresh baby-tomato halves.

La Rapita

We left Palma last night to get further down South. Got a peaceful and quiet sleep in the small village of La Rapita, and we woke up fresher than ever before. (At least first day totally fresh after the 48 hour fiesta in Ibiza. It's completely clear that we're not 20 any longer.) We have some smaller maintenance to do here on the boat before we can sail up on the South East coast. We're planning to have a day of snorkeling in some of the beautiful calas along the coast and hoping to reach Porto Cristo before sun sets again.

More from Formentor

So where was I? Ok, this is the early morning in the bay of Formentor. Beautiful and serene. No one was awake at this time besides me and some fishes under me in the sea grass that I accidentally had to witness very closely.
I woke Alex up and we swam to land for breakfast by the Barcelo Hotel. After eating we got our fins on and snorkeled for around 90 minutes from one side of the bay to the other. A perfect start on a lovely, sunny day. I just recently got familiar with this other world, below the surface, and it's a shame I never got introduced to it earlier. Feels like there's so much I have missed out on! The life underneath our own is absolutely marvelous. So quiet and in total peace within itself. Can't wait to get somewhere even more beautiful where we can explore other oceans and their creatures. (Sorry not much pictures from below down as the underwater camera we got sucks. Will get a new one asap)
We left our bay around lunch time and headed for another creek.
Feels like he wants to get out surfing. It's a shame that the waters and the choppy waves doesn't allow it around here in the Mediterranean. Can you feel our frustrating need to get to the pacific?! Diving in colorful waters! Surfing! Exploring new worlds!

Analyzing which new GPS to purchase. (Decided to go for the Garmin GPSmap 720s Chartplotter/Sounder.)

Later on that day we realized we had to stop somewhere to repair the halyard winch before sailing back home.
Were supposed to leave that night for our passage back home but the small town, Colonia st Pere, turned so incredible beautiful by sunset that we just couldn't leave before getting to indulge in the peaceful atmosphere, at least for one, single night.
Got my heels on,
and we went for dinner in one of the small restaurants by the beach.
Had a wonderful magret de canard in sweet pear sauce and a juicy piece of butter cooked salmon while dreaming and talking about our future adventures, and the meaning of the ones that had passed.
As none of us are particularly interested in football, we were in our own little world while everyone were inside watching Spain beating Holland. But we surely got notice of it when all of a sudden people came out from everywhere screaming and singing and lighting fireworks on the streets. Perfect entertainment just in time for our dessert.

Stayed in the marina until the next day and then back home the night after.

A very harmonic and relaxing weekend. Like most of the times when it's only the two of us. Us two with our Caos and the nature. Somehow it feels like that constellation has became our small family in a weird, wonderful, new way and like we said millions of times before, we can't wait to get the hell out of here (Europe) and take it all to the next level. /T

Wonderland on water

Back home safely after five days of cruising around in the Northern parts of Mallorca. We were blessed with perfect sailing conditions on our way back home and the 18,5 hours crossing between Formentor and Barcelona went smooth and easy. We had mostly 12-15 knots of wind on the beam or sailed close hauled with almost flat water all the way through. Blue sky on the day, marvelously colorful sunset and a black sky filled with an ocean of stars in the night. Those are the days you get reminded that sailing truly is the supreme way of traveling and living. An ultimate lifestyle for which it would be hard to find a fair competitor. /T

(more pics coming soon)

In Colonia St Pere/Alcudia

We have been extremely busy enjoying the serene beauty of some of Mediterranean's most spectacular surroundings both under and above water and we'll be back with you all soon. Our halyard winch is broken and as soon as we get it refitted we'll leave back home to Barcelona.

Be safe until next time!

Menorca

Good news! Menorca and Formentor is on for tomorrow. We're hoping to get a good change to try out our new scuba diving gear and underwater camera in the beautiful waters they offer over there. See you when we arrive.
