That's a baby pelican. Like seagulls, the babies are brown.
Alright readers...let's see if we can get more comments on this post than of the bikini posts :P
What a beautiful pelican!
It's a juvenile Brown Pelican. Depending where you are they are also known as 'the Mexican/Cuban/Puerto Rican airforce'.
I was in Guadeloupe last week, and I have to say, those birds are amaizing... They hunt in groups of 10 to 15 and watching them is like watching the RAF attacking an enemy base! really cool birds!
Great stop action photo!
How about a current picture of your surroundings where you are today. The map shows Antigua, but we getting old past photos. At least upon arrival in a new place or port, how about a panoramic photo of where you are so we can see that.
Perhaps there is nothing glorious to actually see? (frankly I could not stand Antigua when I was there, nothing happening and aggressive locals). But for example a pana.pic. of Marigot Bay would have been awesome.
I just get the feeling Antigua right now where you are parked is maybe not even worth the click of the camera and that is why you're sifting through old dated pics at this moment?
We usually get a 'wow...look how beuatiful this new place is..." upon arrival.
:-)
maybe already time to ship out to BVI...
...or not?
GREAT photo!

How about a baby pelican in a bikini?
Jon ...
Ok, a pelican will do for today, but I'd rather look at the Red(ish) Headed Finnish Seagull if you don't mind... ;)
Seriously: it's a nice bird, but how about Antigua? How does it look like?
National Geographic's Birds of North America might be helpful. Birds of the West Indies from the Princeton Field Guide Series looks well reviewed on Amazon.
When you get your book(s) maybe you can help people understand that there are no "Seagulls" but instead a variety of interesting gull species each with its own name. Laughing Gull or Herring Gull or whatever its name is, is so much better than "Seagull" no?
