Gothenburg
You must be missing your man! Enjoy your friends and free doctors (jealous!!!).
Nothing is free... Somebody is paying for it.
Three and a half years on a boat, quite the amazing thing!
I've also been traveling full time for the past 4 years and just got back to my hometown Gothenburg to give myself a (well needed) break from traveling.
It's a strange thing to be back after a long time in the city you grew up in, isn't it?
Tjena Taru, tycker du skall gå på Nef i kväll och kolla in Nisse Landgren. Kommer bli riktigt ball räknar jag med. Tror att du skulle gilla hans musik, eller har jag fel?
Well well;-) - the healthcare is not free by definition - we pay our swedish taxes to get that, right!?
Take care now and have a lovely stay in lovely Sweden.

Exactly Anonymous... You just made my point ;)
Thank You
I think you know what I mean. Obviously nothing in this world is free, but if we compare Sweden and the US for example, citizens from both countries pay tons of tax, especially the US is going bananas with taxations at the moment - but what do one get with that in the United States? Not much. Medical care and insurances are extremely expensive.
The Swedish government on the other hand (still) does care about its citizens, and we receive near free healthcare, schools, infrastructure - as a guarantee when we support the state with all the tax we pay during our lives. Sweden is a more humane state where the citizens still are a priority, the US, if we use it as an example, has completely lost it and it seems their government does everything to work against its own people.
Both the fact that I only pay $13 USD (100 SEK) for an appointment with a MD, and the fact that I feel much more safe here - are reasons to why I choose to do my medical checks here rather than in the US. But of course, I've paid plenty of tax to the state during my lifetime so that is something I take for granted. We're spoiled like that in Scandinavia.
