Ha! We snagged you after all! I couldn't agree more with the quality ingredient thing, although there is a time and place for comfort food whether it's nutritionally good for you or not. Now you just have to try macaroni and cheese :)

Grew up on these. I would suggest trying it with the crappy, squishy white bread just once. If you squish it all together once it's made it all comes together in this brilliant panoply of amazingness.

1. Fluffernutter (ask your friend)
2. Peanut Butter Crepes - spread PB, roll it up &
Maple Syrup on top. Mmmmm........
Yea i heard about fluffernutter, how nutritious.
And what about this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanut_butter,_banana_and_bacon_sandwich
It worked for Elvis.
I'm a huge fan of the PB&J, even though I no longer eat wheat.
You have to try the AB&J - almond butter and jelly. It's pretty amazing too.
Why don't you eat wheat any longer?
with the apple pie, i recommend a good cheddar. it's amazing. better than pbj! and in the meantime, just slice a delicious apple and put some cheddar shavings (or parm, it works too!) on top of the slices. i like it best when the slices are chilled and the cheese is room temp. cheers! love your posts, and i am eating less meat, and you are part of the inspiration for that. double cheers!
There are a lot of fruit and cheese combinations that go very well together: strawberries and fresh goat cheese, pears and parmesan, watermelon and feta. A slice of a homemade apple pie, which should be barely sweetened with only the smallest amount of added sugar, and a piece of an aged Vermont cheddar (say, Cabot clothbound) is an amazing thing.
And the next time your bread comes out of the oven, try the Greek version of PB&J spread: tahini and honey! You'll love it.
Taru, as to why I no longer eat wheat...
I've had autoimmune type stomach problems for years. I finally decided to give a gluten free diet a try, and surprisingly it has really helped my issues. I can't say that it is easy being a gluten free vegetarian. I almost wish I ate some meat, but I never liked it even as a child.
I would love to have a good old PB&J right now, but the gluten free bread I have tried is terrible. Really awful!
You should try peanut butter and pickle sandwich. I know it sounds off the chart weird, but if you use bread and butter pickles, it is really good.
No, seriously!
I tried when I lived in the States and for a Spanish girl was quite rare but when I was hungry one day I tried and until now. Now you have to try ( if you dare) a sandwich with peaunut butter, banana and bacon. Delicioso y nutritivo.

Hmmmm, I'm still not sure about this combination, but I guess you're right: you have to taste it sometime. :-)
Hi Alex and Taru,
to quote Bernard Shaw " there is no love more sincere than man's love of food" happy eating .
Cheese on an apple pie is a very regional thing. I have never seen anyone put cheese on apple pie.
I didn't even know and I'm American that people put cheese on their apple pie. Hmmmmm.... But PB&Js????? Best sandwich EVER! Add some bananas next time, yum!!!!!
Haha, I sometimes have scrambled eggs in the middle of the PB&J sndwch for breakfast - sometimes add cheese and bacon too :-)
I think the only time I've ever had cheese on my apple pie was in Montreal, and then it was cheddar.
Us South Africans also eat Peanutbutter and Jelly (although we call it jam not jelly) it is a favourite amongst us, nothing beats it!
